Giant Bugs!

On Saturday we drove to Fort Worth and picked up Great-Grandmommy and Great-Granddaddy on our way to the Fort Worth Zoo.  This is one of our favorite zoos - they have several exhibits that we don't have at our local zoo, such as gorillas, giraffes, and baby elephants.

They had a special exhibit of large animatronic insects throughout the zoo, and the kids loved spotting them as we walked around.  Many of the insects moved on their own, but their favorite was a beetle with buttons you could push to make different parts move.

While we were there, we ran into Robert's cousin Liz and her son John.  Claire and Will met John for the first time at our family reunion in June, and they were excited to see him again.  Such a nice surprise!

We lasted a couple of hours at the zoo, then went to Dutch's for lunch and back to the hotel for naps.  The hotel has a big pool on the property with a lazy river, zipline, slides, etc., so we spent the rest of the afternoon swimming and playing in the water.  That evening while I got the kids bathed and ready for bed, Robert picked up Grimaldi's Pizza, and we enjoyed a pizza picnic and a movie in our room before bed - a typical Saturday night for us!
